CAPE launches 'Multimediations'

CAPE Africa Platform has formed a cooperative educational initiative with Cape Town's CityVarsity to offer a free contemporary African art course to matric and undergraduate students in Cape Town. The course, called 'Multimediations', is part of CAPE 2006's broad-based arts awareness campaign, leading up to their 'not another' biennale, 'Trans Cape'.

'Multimediations' was launched on May 25 and sessions will take place weekly on Thursday afternoons until the end of the academic year in December. The venue is the CAPE Lab at 71 Buitengracht Street, Cape Town, which will act as a launch pad for all programme activities and a home base from which participants can pursue their research.

The course is free to any member of the educational community of Cape Town and open to learners in matric or students working at any level of post-matric study. It aims to engage learners with the local and global history of contemporary African art, through a programme of active learning and personal exploration.
