Proposal for a new city, the same as the old one

Jonah Sack at Michaelis Gallery

'Proposal for a new city, the same as the old one', is an installation by GIPCA (Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts ) Fellow Jonah Sack that depicts Cape Town as a city in the process of being constructed and simultaneously dismantled. The exhibition comprises an installation and a newspaper-format publication, based on Sack’s drawings of Woodstock, Paarden Eiland, Voortrekker Road and other areas of Cape Town, in which the city is represented as abandoned and derelict.

'Proposal for a new city, the same as the old one' is being exhibited upstairs at the same time as 'Third Worlds: Model Cities' at the Michaelis Gallery.
