Richard Mason: Carbonage Lite

Richard Mason presents 'Carbonage Lite', an ironic exploration of the ideologies and effects of late capitalism, war, politics and religion. 'Carbonage' refers to a fusion of carbon based life forms with the ideologies and products of transnational corporations in a world that revolves around oil. Using a diverse array of media including carbon fibre, commercial light boxes, used car oil, coal, oil drums and video, Mason constructs an intense and dynamic environment intended to overwhelm.

Tamzyn Varney: Anatomical Arrangements

In 'Anatomical Arrangements' Tamzyn Varney's first solo exhibition in the Long Gallery, the human body features as a social emblem, the constrictions and suppressions that the body suffers an analogy for the impact of social and cultural conventions on the individual consciousness. It also takes the idea of 'homo faber' (man as a maker of things) as that which enables metamorphoses through manipulation and play. Varney's work includes sculpture, video, collage, print media and conceptual photography.
