Tanya de Bruyn at artSPACE durbanThis installation of mixed media works by Tanya de Bruyn is the result of the artist's search for a common ground amongst sport supporters in South Africa. De Bruyn investigated the ways in which excited supporters dress up in the colours of their teams and discovered that rugby, soccer and cricket supporters all wear Makarapas. The exhibition explores how sport in South Africa has been converted into a way of life, a force that spurs the competitive spirit and unites millions.
