Tom Cullberg and Gabrielle Raaff at Chagan Contemporary

In this exhibition, Chagan Contemporary brings together the work of two South African artists: Tom Cullen and Gabrielle Raafe. Shown alongside his paintings, Tom Cullen's print series 'The Formative Years' (published by Warren Editions in Cape Town) presents portraits of different life stages narrated through the form of book covers. Gabrielle Raafe, working in watercolour and ink, captures incisive, yet compelling everyday scenes of urban life, what she refers to as 'haikus in paint'.

Chagan Contemporary, which aims to give international visibility to emerging South African artists, presents a new exhibition of contemporary artists born in South Africa, where they also live and work. Inspired by the people and landscapes of their country, and working in a range of traditional and conventional materials, Varenka Paschke, Norman O'Flynn and Jane Eppel feature in this dynamic new show.
