'The Unfailing Table'
Anna Romanenko and Bjorn Kuhn at Sober and Lonely Institute for Contemporary Art'The Unfailing Table: ?A workshop on the potential of toasting in the days to come after'.
Over the past two months Anna and Bjorn have been cultivating 44 fruit spirits in the Utopiana garden in Geneva, Switzerland. It only takes one fruit to set in motion 'The Unfailing Table'. You are cordially invited to join Anna and Bjorn for 'The Unfailing Table' at Sober & Lonely this Sunday the 24th at 8pm.?? To arrive at the table we climb down the chain of being and follow the fruit's destiny. The fruit serves as a supplement in the days after and as incendiary for toasting in the days before.
To the restoration of our personal paradise!?? Take a seat and engage in new fantasies about the time after the futuristic outset. What can such a fantasy be like? Bearing in mind that the realisations in fantasy are a generic form of a desire outside us, an impotent mode of wishful thinking and a loss on the principles of reality and the reality principle; we ask: What happens when there is no 'other'? No world to relate to, just an eternal banquet at 'The Unfailing Table' which is not likely to end? What then can we toast to?
Let us convene in the days after and try for a toast to unsettle our social ecology.
No special skills needed.? Spirit provided.

We are happy to welcome Mitchell Gilbert Messina to Sober & Lonely for an undisclosed amount of time. Mitchell arrives from Cape Town this Tuesday, and when we asked what he might be doing while in Joburg, he told us that he likes the idea and trope of a dirtbag twenty-something crashing on a couch indefinitely while in-between jobs. Mitchell doesn't know that Sober & Lonely doesn't have a couch. You can keep updated on his whereabouts via our Facebook and Twitter over the next couple of days/weeks/months?
