'GREEN'
Barend de Wet at SMAC ART GALLERY STELLENBOSCHBarend De Wet presents his first major solo exhibition and official return to the gallery in more than a decade after his strategic 'resignation' from the art world in 1996. Known for his diverse production including traditional media, craft skills and fanatical hobbyism, as well as productive collaborations, De Wet's work operates at the interface between contemporary art, material culture and social networks. In 'GREEN', De Wet incorporates his current preoccupations, namely knitting and his own specific colour palette, to present new and re-worked object based pieces.
The exhibition will be opened by Kathryn Smith followed by a performance by Barend De Wet and an after party in the De Wet Centre courtyard. The exhibition is accompanied by an artist's monograph, written by Kathryn Smith.
There will be a shuttle service departing from La Perla restaurant in Sea Point at 17h00.
