Manifesta 8

Various Artists at Various venues in Murcia and Cartagena, Spain

Manifesta, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art, was born as a nomadic contemporary art event, and has developed into a flexible and mobile structure. This year's edition, Manifesta 8, will explore the idea of Europe in the 21st century at the edges of the continent. More specifically, the aim of Manifesta 8 is to engage with Europe's present day boundaries with Northern Africa and its interrelations with the Maghreb region. The south of Spain has been a historical blend of co-existing Islamic, Judaic and Christian cultural influences. This provides the organic ground on which the Manifesta 8 biennial can explore new topologies and journeys. Participating artists include Abed Anouti, Babi Badalov, Basma Al-Sharif, Raed Yassin, Sherif Al-Azma, Suhail Malik and Khaled Hafez (Canvas 5.3), to name a few.
