The Department of Arts and Culture has announced that it will partner with The City of Johannesburg to coordinate The 'ARTISTS of AFRICA' Exhibition during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Aiming to promote Pan African creativity, the exhibition will present a collaboration of some of the most respected artists, writers, poets and curators from the African Continent.  The City of Johannesburg and The Department of Arts and Culture will thus showcase the wealth of talent which emanates from the continent to the enormous global audience focussed...

The Department of Arts and Culture has announced that it will partner with The City of Johannesburg to coordinate The 'ARTISTS of AFRICA' Exhibition during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Aiming to promote Pan African creativity, the exhibition will present a collaboration of some of the most respected artists, writers, poets and curators from the African Continent.  The City of Johannesburg and The Department of Arts and Culture will thus showcase the wealth of talent which emanates from the continent to the enormous global audience focussed on Africa during the FIFA World Cup tournament.

The Exhibition will be curated by a South African team headed by Thembinkosi Goniwe.  He will be supported by  Melissa Mboweni, Nathi Gumede, Bongi Bengu and Sharon Crampton who will take care of logistics and admin.

The South African team will consult with a panel of approximately 15 respected curators from various parts of  the continent.

The 'ARTISTS of AFRICA' exhibition will run from May 11 until July 11, 2010 at Museum Africa, Newtown Johannesburg.

'ARTISTS of AFRICA' will be exhibited to coincide with 2010 World Cup Soccer.
