South African Art Now: Sue Williamson launches her new book.

ArtThrob’s founding Editor Sue Williamson has launched her most recent publication, the highly anticipated South African Art Now. Featuring over eighty contemporary artists, the book has been launched in both Cape Town at The Book Lounge and in Johannesburg in conjunction with the Jo’burg leg of ArtLogic’s Spring Art Tour.
The Cape Town presentation was accompanied by a panel discussion with Riason Naidoo (Director of the National Gallery), Sean O’Toole (Editor of Art South Africa)...
ArtThrob’s founding Editor Sue Williamson has launched her most recent publication, the highly anticipated South African Art Now. Featuring over eighty contemporary artists, the book has been launched in both Cape Town at The Book Lounge and in Johannesburg in conjunction with the Jo’burg leg of ArtLogic’s Spring Art Tour.
The Cape Town presentation was accompanied by a panel discussion with Riason Naidoo (Director of the National Gallery), Sean O’Toole (Editor of Art South Africa) and Andrew Lamprecht (Senior Lecturer in Art discourse at Michaelis School of Fine Art).
Nic Dawes, editor of the Mail & Guardian, spoke with Williamson at the Johannesburg launch, which took place at Exclusive Books in Hyde Park shopping centre. This event was followed on October 10 with a public discussion, conducted by Wits School of Arts lecturer Thembinkosi Goniwe at the Boekehuis in Auckland Park.
South African Art Now will be launched in Durban this coming December in concurrence with the Design Indaba.
