In this body of work which includes photography, video and performance, Khanyi Mbongwa explores the idea of the black female body as a site of oppression, contest and revelation within both European and African practices and discourses as manifested in the Apartheid legacy. Drawing on her childhood memories, the exhibition is a loosely structured performative translation of recollected and imaginary fragments.
