Christmas Special: ArtThrob lists the best of the latest South African art catalogues. See News.
In Reviews, Kathryn Smith reports from two very different exhibition sites - the frozen north of Iceland, and the crowded, heated inner city terrain of Johannesburg, where the Johannesburg Art Gallery opened the doors to the park for the first time in months for the Joubert Park Open Day. The Joubert Park Project people are to be highly commended for making the effort to link the people and the gallery in a number of creative endeavours. A sangoma reading the bones declared all the gallery's problems were internal, and when one hears that no one in a management position at the gallery was present on the day, this seems rather credible. See Reviews.
This will be our final update for the year and we'll be heading for the beaches until the January issue comes out on January 9. Thank you all for the support, the letters, and the expressions of appreciation - along with some criticisms - ArtThrob has received this year. The hit figure has leaped upwards, and we keep getting new reports of being linked to other websites. A great festive season to all.
