Feedback, with Michaelis lecturer Malcolm Payne attacking Artthrob's 'pale comfort zone', and discussions emerging about the avant-garde versus the mainstream and whether it's healthy for artists to double as curators and critics. The feedback is challenging, thought-provoking and very valuable for Artthrob and the wider community. We're attempting to cover the most important trends and events in South African art today - both in relation to the global artworld and the particular exigencies of the South African context. If you have comments and suggestions, please join in the discussions by emailing
