Goodman Gallery Cape opens in March

Linda Givon will open a Cape Town branch of her prestigious Johannesburg-based Goodman Gallery. 'We are not coming to Cape Town to draw from the stables of other galleries but to enhance what these galleries have done and we hope this is a mission that we can fulfil,' said Givon.

The new premises is located in the rapidly developing area on the border of the CBD and Woodstock in a mid-20th century industrial building. A promising team heads up the gallery with Emma Bedford, lately of Iziko SANG, as director and former KZNSA curator Storm Janse van Rensberg as curator.

'Lift Off Part I' is the inaugural exhibition and opens on March 22 with work by Willie Bester, Norman Catherine, Kendell Geers, David Goldblatt, Robert Hodgins, William Kentridge, Kagiso Pat Mautloa, Sam Nhlengethwa, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Penny Siopis and Sue Williamson.
