'Container/Contained'

Danny Myburgh at Bag Factory

Many of Myburgh's’s detailed charcoal drawings of ships and shipping containers are drawn on antique shipping charts and etched into old photographs taken of ships that visited Cape Town Harbour whilst she was growing up nearby in Llandudno. Other large charcoal sketches are of wrecks and containers in shipyards.

Curated by Wilhelm van Rensburg of Gallery Art on Paper, 'Container/Contained' is taking place in the foyer of The Bag Factory in Fordsburg.Danny says this exhibition explores how the formation of early childhood memories affects us for the rest of our lives and she has used the shipping container as both a metaphor and vessel for these memories.
