'URBAN STAGE'
Tanja Deman and Lorenzo Nassimbeni at Goethe InstitutTanja Deman, visual artist and Lorenzo Nassimbeni, architect are giving a lecture together in which they present recent works from their current individual practices thus creating a platform for interdisciplinary discussion.
The city is an urban stage primed for the interpretation, projection and articulation of ideas. By placing a screen within the urban environment, the opportunity to project an understanding of urban space is created. In observing the city through a lens constituted of glass sourced from the disciplines of visual art and architecture, new ways of seeing and looking emerge. In this space lies a surface which reflects ideas, suggesting an autonomous discipline, a vestibule for knowledge.
Johannesburg as an urban landscape is the potential case-study environment for the testing of ideas presented in this lecture.
Door opens and 18.00, lecture starts at 18.30, until 19.30
