The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) has invited artists and others involved in cultural or heritage work to apply for funding. Applications should be made by Friday April 16. Successful applicants will be announced in July 2004.

Founded in 1994 with the financial backing of Nedbank, Vodacom, Sun International, the Dutch government and the Ministry of Arts and Culture, the ACT funds artists in all the major disciplines. These include arts administration, arts education, community art, crafts, visual arts, dance, music, theatre, film, literature and even arts festivals. The Trust has funded these activities for all of these past ten years, bar one.

It also provides bursaries to educational institutions specialising in arts and culture, allowing these institutions to select the students who should benefit. The Trust does not award bursaries to individual applicants itself.
