Rencontres d'Arles Book Award presented to David Goldblatt
by Kresta Tyler Johnson

In July David Goldblatt won the book award at the Rencontres d'Arles festival for his book Particulars. There were a total of five categories, and submissions were received from throughout the world and judged by a panel of internationally renowned photographers. In its second year of running, the festival will award each winner 10,000 euros.

Published in 2003, David Goldblatt's book Particulars is a collection of black and white and colour photography that he has shot over the past 30 years. Focused on the details and fragments of body parts, the images are deeper investigations by Goldblatt into his fascination and interest in the delicate portions of the physical figure.

The book was published by Goodman Gallery Editions and can be purchased through the Gallery.
