'Africa and the World' at the Goodman Gallery

African and Diaspora artists Rotimi Fani-Kayodé, Kendell Geers, Seydou Keita, Moshekwa Langa, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Tracey Moffat, Bernie Searle, Yinka Shonibare, David Shrigley, Lorna Simpson and Guy Tillim are included in this show.

'Walter Battiss' at the Goodman Gallery

The Goodman Gallery presents a selection of Battiss' drawings, watercolours, prints and a tapestry by the Marguerite Stephens weaving studio.

'The Trickster' at Art Extra

The second of four curated group shows with which gallerist David Brodie inaugurates his gallery is entitled 'The Trickster'. The show endeavours to explore manifestations of this character across a range of experiences and cultural fields.

Brodie continues his interest in combining work by emerging and established artists in one space, and as such, artists on the show include Alan Alborough, Nandipha Mntambo, Anthea Moys and Kathryn Smith.

Project Launches at The Drill Hall

February 16 sees the launch of two major projects at the Drill Hall: a site-specific exhibition by Mozambican artist-in-residence Gonçalo Mabunda, and the official opening of the Keleketla! Library, a joint initiative by the artists' collective innacitycommunity (Drill Hall) and Cape Town-based writer Bettina Malcomess. Both projects form part of the cultural programme facilitated by the Joubert Park Project and are supported by Pro Helvetia Cape Town, the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC), the Centre Culturel Franco-Mozambicain and the National Arts Council.

Andrzej Nowicki at David Krut Projects

David Krut Projects presents a solo exhibition of original watercolours and prints entitled 'Sleep Depot' by Cape Town-based Andrzej Nowicki. Nowicki's last show, at whatiftheworld in Cape Town was sold out before its opening, and a suite of paintings are currently on the Spier Contemporary. He recently obtained his master's degree from Michaelis.

Sue Pam Grant at Gallery Momo

Sue Pam Grant presents a show of work at Gallery Momo during February and March. The show, entitled 'Open at the Seams', is to be opened by William Kentridge.

Beezy Bailey and Joyce Ntobe at The Everard Read Gallery

The irrepressible Beezy Bailey and his imaginary friend Joyce Ntobi show a body of new work at the Everard Read Gallery into February. Ntobi is Bailey's fictional alter ego, under the guise of which he had work accepted onto a competition, some years ago, while his own had been rejected. He has entitled ths show 'Being blown backwards into the future'.

Paul Boulitreau, Kevin Fleischer and Artemis M Angelopulo at gordart Gallery

Painter Paul Boulitreau and photographer Kevin Fleischer present separate bodies of work at gordart Gallery during February. Boulitreau's body of work, in gordart's Main Gallery, is entitled, 'Malice in Wundedland'. Fleischer's photographic work is under the title 'Continuum'. In Nikki Swanepoel's Dolos Gallery at the same premises, the work of Artemis M Angelopulo is the subject of a separate show.

gordart Gallery's Rainforest Project Room presents an exhibition of work by Patrick Matlapeng, under the title 'Contemporary vs. Tradition'.

Nomusa Makhuba at Alliance Française Johannesburg

The Alliance Française of Johannesburg and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) host 'Iso Eliphandliwe', an exhibition by Nomusa Makhuba. Makhuba was the 2006 winner of Gerard Sekoto prize in the Absa L'Atelier Award competition.
