'24.7' REPORT BACK
Week One: NEW MEDIA, June 24 - 29
On his web journal, available at www.247residency.blogspot.com, Christian Nerf muses freely about his '24.7' project. According to the artist cum curator now, this project is an invitation to peak behind the eaves, to watch brains ticking, minds working, mice wheeling.
Now officially a week old, amongst the activities characterising this inaugural week of the residency programme, a Rhodes photojournalism student arrived to discuss '24.7' being the focus of her final project, and web artist Nathaniel Sterne worked on stuttering[odys] - "a piece that I've been conceptualizing for many, many moons". Nintendo Gamecube also arrived, as did Crispian Plunkett, a musical collaborator on Sterne's project.
On Wednesday, June 25 at 8H13, Nerf posted a thought on the potentialities of the web, the theme/ subject of this week's residency programme. "I am surfing the Web and find an 18 year old living in Regensburg, Germany by the name of Christian Nerf. The Web is schweet. I mail an invitation to myself to participate in 24.7. I tell Kathryn (Smith) when she arrives with MacGuffin. Her project derived from the works of Kathryn Smith (the Canadian romance novelist) has just been acquired by the JAG."
