Nominees for MTN New Contemporaries Announced
Nominees for the MTN New Contemporaries, which runs from August 7 to September 21 at MuseuMAfricA, have been announced. The nominees are Matt Hindley, Alison Kearney, Thando Mama, Hannes Olivier and Nontsikelelo 'Lolo' Veleko.
It is revealing that out of the five nominees, four of the artists (Hindley, Kearney, Mama and Olivier) were profiled in the autumn issue of Art South Africa in a story profiling emerging talent. Coincidence - or a reflection on how judges might have been influenced by the weight of opinion?
