New regional representative for BASA
by Virginia MacKenny

Nicky du Plessis, of Cultural Radius Arts and Culture Consultancy, has, as of November 1, been appointed as the Business Arts SA regional representative for KwaZulu Natal.

This is a part-time position, for a trial period of six months, and is an attempt to raise the profile and presence of BASA in the region. This means that du Plessis is available to represent BASA at all local events; to provide feed-back on applicants and/or sponsors in the region that have applied to BASA; to develop relationships with local arts organizations; to invite entry to the Business Day/ BASA Awards; to take advantage of any media opportunities on behalf of BASA; to make relevant presentations on BASA where necessary and to try to identify existing sponsorship programmes to encourage membership and the documentation of case studies.

Du Plessis is looking for feedback from artists and their organisations as to how they think BASA can assist them. Are there for instance sponsorship possibilities that might benefit from BASA support or follow up or would a presentation on the BASA strategies and aims help? Are there any other informational seminar requests? Are there any new sponsorship relationships that BASA should identify for the Awards?

Nicky can be contacted on telephone 082 901 0735 or cradius@mweb.co.za
