William Kentridge wins German art prize
The city of Goslar in Germany has awarded William Kentridge the prestigious Goslar Kaiserring Award. The ceremony took place in early October, 2003. As part of his prize he has been invited to install an exhibition in the Mönchehaus Museum in the German medieval town.
Previous artists to receive the award include Henry Moore, Max Ernst, Alexander Calder, Victor Vasarely, Joseph Beuys, Richard Serra, Max Bill, Günther Uecker, Willem de Kooning, Eduardo Chilida, Georg Baselitz, Christo, Gerhard Richter, Mario Merz, Anselm Kiefer, Name June Paik, Rebecca Horn, Roman Opalka, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Cy Twombly, Dani Karavan, Franz Gertsch, Ilya Kabakow, Cindy Sherman, Sigmar Polke, Christian Boltanski and Jenny Holzer.
